Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Photographer – Joanne and Tim
Planning a destination wedding isn’t easy. It’s really similar to buying a house online without ever stepping foot in it, or walking around the neighbourhood. Joanne and Tim have roots in Calgary but were living in Hong Kong when they contacted me. They were looking for a Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Photographer. I get really excited about couples who want to get married on top of a mountain. There really aren’t that many venues out there like the Eagle’s Eye Restaurant which for those who haven’t been to the Kicking Horse, is only accessible by gondola (or a long hike). If you love mountains and epic views it’s pretty much a dream venue for a wedding. Joanne and Tim planned a June wedding and were prepared for the weather, which turned out not being all that great, but it added some character to their day and didn’t dampen their spirits at all.
A few days before heading out to Golden for the wedding the couple hosted a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and banquet in Calgary. For me this was a great way to get to know everyone and let them become comfortable with me being around them with a camera in their face. The food was amazing!
The guests were treated to a traditional Dragon Dance.
I love the tradition of toasting each table.
A few days later in Golden, B.C. at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

These two got ready on separate floors so that we could have a bit “reveal”. I love it when family and friends are there to watch.
We did a few photos in town before heading up the gondola.
